May Journal Entry

Friends,

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am delighted to share with you some exciting news from our recent adventures, upcoming events, and to announce the release of two exceptional wines from Reustle-Prayer Rock Vineyards.

Firstly, Gloria and I have just returned from a two-week Winemaker Seminar Series in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida presenting to both American Wine Society Chapters and at our Wine Club Members homes. The experience was both enlightening and fun as we had the opportunity to conduct blind tastings of our Gruner Veltliner, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Tempranillo against some of the best and highly-rated European counterparts. I am both honored and humbled to share that our wines showed exceptionally well, winning the majority of the challenges. SDG. Despite the European wines being significantly more expensive, it is a testament to the quality, craftsmanship, and dedication that go into each bottle we produce here at Reustle-Prayer Rock Vineyards. At our own winery, we conduct a similar blind tasting event called the "Billionaires Challenge.” Here you have the opportunity to “Drink Like a Billionaire”. In this unique experience, our 2009 Syrah Reserve is tasted blind against a French Syrah from the Cote Rotie (2019 Delas La Landonne) which costs $340 and has earned a 96-point rating from both Wine Spectator and Decanter magazines. To our delight, the results so far have been evenly split, with half of the tasters selecting Reustle and half selecting the French wine as the best wine.

During your next visit, we invite you to consider reserving a spot for this rather intimate tasting experience with either myself or Associate Winemaker Wade Smith. We're confident you'll enjoy the challenge and interested to see which one you select!
